Findings

Look carefully at the two images. This patient has suffered a fracture and has had surgery to fix the broken bone.

  1. Can you identify which bone(s) are fixed by the hardware in this image?

    Clavicle and scapula

Correct. This is a fracture of the distal third of the clavicle. In the second image a plate has been placed fixing the clavicle and immobilizing the acromioclavicular joint.
    Clavicle and humerus

Incorrect. It is not common to need to immobilize the glenohumeral articulation with internal hardware after a fracture. Try again.
    Scapula

Incorrect. Look carefully at the first image to determine which bone has been fractured. Try again.
    Second rib

Incorrect. Look carefully at the first image to determine which bone has been fractured. Try again.
